Raman spoke these words to his attending physician and family at his bedside in Raman Research Institute, Bangalore, shortly before his passing from natural causes. He remained lucid and philosophical until the end.
Brief Chronicle
Sir C.V. Raman was the first Asian to win a Nobel Prize in Sciences (Physics, 1930) for his discovery of the Raman Effect. He founded the Raman Research Institute in Bangalore and was a towering figure in Indian science whose work laid the foundation for modern physics in the country.
